Honda/Acura Ignition Roll-Pin Removal Kit – Detailed Instructions

Step 1: Identify the Ignition Type

• Refer to the application chart to determine if the vehicle has a Type 1 or Type 2 ignition housing.
• If Type 2, use the included pointed center punch to back out the ignition headless bolts if necessary.

Step 2: Prepare the Roll Pin for Removal

1. Use the supplied awl/ice pick to insert the tip into the end of the roll pin.
2. Gently move the pin side to side in all directions to loosen it.
3. Center the roll pin within the hole using the ice pick.

Step 3: Attach the Fixture to the Ignition Housing

1. Select two of the three color-coded thumb screws and use them to attach the fixture to the front of the ignition housing.
2. Use spacing washers if needed for proper alignment.
3. Insert the Black Tee thumb screw into the 1/4-20 tapped hole and snug it against the ignition cylinder.

Step 4: Position the Brass Thumb Screw Assembly

1. Insert a short tube into the brass thumb screw, then LIGHTLY secure it in place using the set screw.
2. Insert the long tube through the outer tube, ensuring the flared tip is on the threaded end of the screw.
3. Insert the brass thumb screw assembly into the threaded hole, seating the flared tip over the top of the roll pin.
4. Verify that the flared end is properly positioned by attempting to move the tip side to side.

Step 5: Extract the Roll Pin

1. Thread the brass thumb screw 1-2 full rotations.
2. Lightly tap the back end of the tube inward to ensure it is fully seated over the roll pin.
3. Continue turning the brass thumb screw assembly until it reaches a definite stop—DO NOT OVER-TIGHTEN.
4. Tighten the set screw ONE FULL ROTATION ONLY.
5. Loosen the Black 1/4-20 Tee thumb screw.
6. Unthread the brass thumb screw assembly, now with the roll pin attached.

Step 6: Special Instructions for Type 1 Ignitions

• Use the ice pick to lift the steering lock tailpiece during cylinder removal.
